The Byron Hospice Service, located in rural northern NSW, was established in 1994 to provide support and care for local people with a life threatening illness, who wish to be cared for at home. We are a community based, “Not for Profit”, Non-Government Organisation, registered with NSW Department of Fair Trading as an incorporated association.

Caring for a loved one with a debilitating illness at home can place an enormous demand on family and friends, both emotionally and physically. We provide a range of support services, through our trained volunteer carers, to make remaining at home a viable alternative. In extreme cases, we provide24 hour/seven day a week care.

Our services are provided free of charge. We provide an intensive 10 week training course for our volunteer carers. We provide community education through Adult Education courses and regular appearances in local media, both radio and newspaper. We have no paid positions in our organization, all persons work in a voluntary capacity.

We are completely reliant upon our own fundraising activities by way of special events, market stalls and local business donations. Any donation we receive and money we raise goes towards office rent, phone, petrol, books, insurance, trainings, basic equipment and general running costs.
